I was home for the entire day after a long time and wanted to make something. On checking my pantry I found the bag of besan (Gram flour) which I had bought some 2 months back with the good intentions of making laddoo. I also wanted to use a little less ghee than usual, so used milk in the recipe. Chopped almonds and pistachios added a crunch and the aroma from the ghee and green cardamom was mesmerizing!
Ingredients:
- Sooji (Semolina) – 3tbs
- Besan (Gram flour) – 8 tbs
- Sugar – 5tbs
- Ghee – 4 tbs
- Chopped almond – 2tbs
- Chopped pistachio – 2tbs
- Milk – 8tbs
- Green Cardamom powder – 1tsp
Dry roast the sooji (semolina) and besan (gram flour) till fragrant, add the ghee, sugar and green cardamom powder and cook a little more till the color turns a little dark. Pour in the milk, while stirring continuously and cook till all the liquid gets absorbed. Fold in the chopped nuts. Using your palms make round balls while the mixture is still warm. Garnish with an almond sliver.
Serve as dessert or just pop into your mouth anytime you want!
These are my all time favourite sweet and I have such fond memories of mum making this sweet for Diwali. You have missed out on the quantity of ghee. Love the almond on top.
