Cinnamon infused Hot Chocolate
It is Hot Chocolate time of the year again. But here’s the thing – we are still enjoying a very mild Fall weather. Some leaves are just about bursting into gorgeous shades of yellow and red while most trees are shedding leaves or going green to brown, straight. Not the prettiest state of affairs, but oh well! We are still out wearing just a tee during the day, and we were already in the first week of November.
But mild temperatures shouldn’t stop us from devouring hot chocolate or hot cocoa by the mugfuls, should it now? So yeah, we have been indulging in cups of hot chocolate since last month. The 7 yo is fond of this recipe for Hot Chocolate (he likes his at room temperature) while I like mine with a hint of cinnamon. Sometimes, I will add a little rum to mine. Just a wee bit, say an ounce or so. I use almond milk to make hot chocolate since both the 7 yo and I are allergic to cow’s milk.

- Half a stick of cinnamon, broken into small pieces
- A pinch of cinnamon powder

How to make Cinnamon infused Hot Chocolate
Take the chocolate, cinnamon powder, cocoa powder and salt in a measuring cup and set aside.
Heat the milk along with the broken cinnamon sticks on low heat. Once the milk starts simmering and you can smell the fragrant aroma of cinnamon, take the sauce pan off the heat and stir in the sugar.
Pour the hot-cinnamony milk into the measuring cup and let it sit for a bit.
Whisk gently to help the chocolate melt.
Garnish with the mini marshmallows and sprinkle cinnamon powder and cocoa powder on the marshmallows.
